Suffering is about change. The great suffering comes when the woman, in her despair,
needs to make choices that this is asking her to make. It is pulling her. But through
convention, they are hard choices. They are difficult ones. And she is in the dark night of the soul.
And it is an alone place that she is because the test is: Do you compromise to the flesh and
to convention? And do you stay within those borders, that narrow framework of theology?
Do you stay within that or do you reach beyond it? The pain comes when you reach beyond it.
